CALL FOR PAPERS
NAVA invites all members to submit prospective presentations for NAVA 61. Submissions should be sent to
vp2nd@nava.org
and received by
May 15, 2027
. A selection committee consisting of NAVA's second vice-president and at least two other NAVA members will determine the roster of presentations for the meeting.
Most presentations selected will likely be papers that will be judged on their scholarly content, their clarity, and their contribution to advancing vexillology.
The program will also include panels and workshops devoted to aspects of vexillology or perspectives on the field as a whole—proposals that will elicit discussion among all meeting participants are welcome.
Paper proposals must include an abstract, a summary of the research to be cited, and examples of the images to be shown. Presentations at the meeting are limited to 20 minutes (with an additional 5 minutes for discussion).
By submitting papers for consideration authors stipulate that papers are currently unpublished and, if accepted, grant NAVA the first option to publish them and not submit them for publication elsewhere without NAVA consent.
Applicants will be notified by
June 15
if their proposal has been accepted
. Those selected for presentation must submit the following by
August 15
:
• The PowerPoint that will be shown
• The completed version of the research paper underlying the presentation. The paper may be eligible for the Captain William Driver Award. The
Driver Award Guidelines
give the criteria for the selection of the Award.
• The speaker’s notes for the presentation (if differing from the paper).
Applicants who do not submit this material on time will forfeit their place in the meeting program.
The papers should be publishable in
Vexillum
or
Raven
(subject to editorial board review and acceptance). When accepted for publication, authors must provide
high-resolution i
mages with appropriate permissions secured.
While the selection committee will give priority to proposals for papers eligible for the Driver Award, it also welcomes proposals for presentations in other formats, such as workshops, conversations, and panel discussions. Please submit such proposals by May 15, 2027 as well.
