Who can join?
Any individual or organization is eligible for membership in NAVA who is interested in vexillology and agrees to subscribe to
NAVA's
bylaws.
Membership Categories
There are four classes of membership:
- Active members may attend meetings, vote, hold office,
serve on committees, and receive publications without additional
cost. They are eligible for one free classified ad in NAVA News
per year and one free non-commercial exhibit table at the Annual
Meeting. Active membership is open to any individual eighteen years
of age or older. Dues are US$40 annually.
- Associate members have all the privileges of active members
except voting and holding office. Associate membership is open only
to spouses of active members, individuals under the age of eighteen,
and full-time college or university students. Dues are US$20 annually.
- Organizational members have all the privileges of active
members except holding office. They have free insert privileges
in NAVA News (one page per issue, member supplies inserts), preferred
rates on ads and exhibit space at the Annual Meeting, and a listing
on the NAVA Commercial
Members web page. Organizational membership is open to any commercial
or nonprofit organization. An organizational member may designate
an individual to represent the organization in NAVA. Dues are US$60
annually.
- Honorary members have the title conferred
on them for rendering distinguished service in
the field of vexillology or to the association.
Honorary members do not pay dues, but have all
the privileges of membership except voting and
holding office.
How to Join NAVA
Print out the membership application,
fill in the requested information, and mail it with your dues to the
address on the form. All payments must be either by: (1) check drawn
on funds deposited in the United States; (2) money order; (3) international
postal money order payable in U.S. dollars; or (4) over the Internet
through PayPal. Cash is strongly discouraged. Please make all
checks or money orders payable to "NAVA".
Your membership will be processed after your first year's dues are
received. This normally takes 3 to 4 weeks. To accelerate the process,
you can apply online and pay through PayPal
(www.paypal.com), by sending the payment to "treas@nava.org".
Make sure to list your name as it appears on the membership application.
Notes About
Membership Applications
Dues are payable on an annual basis (January 1 to December 31) and
are not prorated. An applicant may request that membership become
effective on January 1 of the following year if the application is
submitted after the October annual meeting. NAVA is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt
organization, and membership dues and other donations are tax deductible
to the extent allowed under United States law and article XXI of the
1980 United States-Canada tax treaty. US$8 of the membership dues
are allocated to Raven: A Journal of Vexillology.
NAVA Member Flags
NAVA maintains a Member Flag Registry,
documenting the personal flags of NAVA members.
