Dave has a background in vexillography and lives in Washington, Maine, USA. He was elected President of NAVA at NAVA 32.
Generally reflecting the design of the NAVA Flag, the colors blue and white and the design elements are borrowed from the fleur-de-lis Flag of Québec, which celebrates its fiftieth anniversary this year.
The three white fleurs, representing Québec lying between Canada and the United States, also stand for the past, present and future of vexillology.
The white-blue-white bars on the blue field represent the St. Lawrence River, upon the shores of which the city resides.
Together, the three white fleurs and two white bars represent the number of the convention, 32 as well as a "V" for Vexillology.
